Asbury Park, NJ asked in Products Liability for New Jersey

Q: Is it worth it to sue for failure to honor warranty

Purchased Sharp microwave 7/2014. 4/2015, the unit sparks and starts to catch fire. No injuries or damages other than the microwave. Sharp keeps changing their story on replacement. 4/6 - send pix of the damage, they will send replacement. When calling to confirm receipt of pix, they claim a safety inspector has to call first then they will ship unit within 3 days. No inspector call, followed up 4/8 told no safety inspector needed unit to be shipped 4/9 arriving 4/13. 4/15 asked for tracking number since unit not received, told they needed me to sign an agreement to send old unit back then they will ship. Sign, scan, and send asking for track#. Story changes again, thought this call was a scam person sounded unintelligible looking for my credit card#'s. They won't tell me what they need it for other than undisclosed charges if they claim they don't get the old unit back. Don't trust them now. I offer to go to their site to exchange in person. No response.
