Cincinnati, OH asked in Medical Malpractice for Ohio

Q: Can I sue a nurse/hospital BC the nurse pocketed some of my pain meds after my surgery instead? My mom as there with me

I had neck surgery & I found out my nurse pocketed some of my pain medication. She lied ab losing one of the pills and also dosage and then gave me another medication an hour later when I was suppose to get something else. She removed my IV line without a Dr order because I was suppose to receive pain medication through the IV instead of orally. I think she also kept one of my muscle relaxers as too. I reported the nurse to the hospital and they sent her home immediatley. The charge nurse verified that the chart showed differently than what was actually administered. My mom was in the room with me when most of this occurred. I went through a lot of pain and it took a while before anyone could help me. It was really stressful for me when I was suppose to get rest and pain management. The hospital wantsnme to sign releases so they can press charges and also so me and my mother can give statements to the police

A: Cooperate with the hospital and police. I do not see this as a viable medical malpractice claim. The cost of the litigation would outstrip any potential recovery. Of course, you can contact a medical malpractice lawyer in your area for a free consultation.
