Louisville, KY asked in Car Accidents for Kentucky

Q: My daughter ran into a parked car on her bicycle, the damage is hardly noticeable. The car owner got two quotes but...

one quote was from a dealership for (x) number of labor hours and two days. The 2nd quote is the same number of labor hours but three days. The 2nd quote is a "one man show", which leads me to believe the 2nd quote was written with the first quote information. I have not agreed to pay anything, yet. My concern is if the car owner comes up with more that is wrong after I agree to the $700 repairs. Any thoughts?

A: Generally speaking, when paying money to settle a claim, it's a good idea to have the plaintiff sign a properly-worded legal release to help ensure the matter is settled once and for all. A local lawyer can assist.
