Q: Defendant is incarcerated in Utah awaiting (Nov 2015) federal sentencing. In Nevada, misdemeanor case with a warrant
I bail out the defendant in March 2015. Defendant had Utah state charges as well, However the State of Utah is waiting on federal sentencing hearing. Bond company file a motion to exonerate, but lawyer keeps rescheduling. So on behalf of the defendant I filed a motion to quash bench warrant. Judge listen to my statement but told me I had to be a lawyer or the defendant could represent himself. How does a incarcerated defendant represent himself or ask for a public defender in Nevada? Could a motion to describe a relief request help?
A: Such overly broad questions. Basically by learning the law or asking for a pd. I do not fully understand the second question, but a motion would contain a request for relief.
