A: It never smart to go to court without a lawyer. You did not say if you are the plaintiff seeking the order or the defendant defending against the order. Domestic violence protective orders have serious legal consequences for both parties, including custody, possession of the shared residence, possession of shared assets, prohibitions against gun ownership, criminal consequences for violations, and it can effect employment. Whether you are the plaintiff or the defendant, you should talk to an attorney.
