A: You need to hire a family attorney in Alabama and have a full discussion about this. Basically, committing crime and being sent to prison does not diminish your child support obligation. It is considered a voluntary act, a unilateral change in circumstances which does not entitle you to a modification of the obligation. Like I said already, you need to get a family lawyer in Alabama. The case law there might say something different than the basic concept I have written.
