Q: I live in Nowata Oklahoma my truck broke down on a road in town at a stop sign. I walked to my house 2 blocks away to
get the stuff I needed to fix it
, it was a wire on my starter, I was gone maybe 20 minutes and when I got back the cops were there an told me they had called a tow truck and couldn't cancel it, even after I explain my situation. I waited almost 20 before the tow truck ever got there. Is this legal?
A: It indeed does look suspect. While the towing company does appear to be owed their fee for towing the vehicle, the officers should have been able to cancel their call. One is tempted to suspect a kick-back scheme of some sort. I would speak with their supervisor to determine if and why they indeed could not cancel the call.
