Fort Pierce, FL asked in Animal / Dog Law for Florida

Q: Can the breeder of the puppy I bought sue me for selling the puppy sense I still owed her $600.00

I bought a puppy from this lady off line. The contract states that I owe 600 left and will pay 300 one month and 300 the next. Well, sense my boyfriend was the one who was holding the dog because where I stayed they don't allow that type of breed. In the mean time we broke up and the puppy stayed with him. So I visted the dog and took care of him as much as I could without getting in the way of my working hours. One day went over there and found out the dog was getting abused. Then a week later while I was trying to find him a good home my ex told me that I had to get rid of the puppy or he will be put in the pound. So, then I took him to my friends house which he was there for 2 days and then I found a good home for him. The breeder found out and is telling me I can't sell the dog. Even though it doesn't state anything other than I have to pay her which I was going to pay her off that same day I sold the puppy.

A: Anyone can be sued for any reason...winning a lawsuit is a different story. The contract would have to be read, but a big step to avoid litigation is to simply pay the remaining balance.
