Q: Been out of work 22 days for a broken hand. I need some direction on what to do.
Upon going to the doctor he put me on light duty despite me still having pain. The doctor didn't provide any pain medication during the visit. Being that the only light duty is computer work, I advised my workers comp advisor there is no way I could perform that work. During my injury the workers comp insurance company was bought out and a new company took over. After several attempts in contacting the new company I haven't received any information on the status of my claim. I also haven't received any compensation checks. I'm currently using all my sick/vacation time. Currently my hand is feeling a little better and I plan on starting light duty because my sick/vacation time has run out. Just making sure my rights are being protected. What steps should I take in this situation?
A: Did the hand get broken at work? You did not say. Have you considered talking with an attorney about this?
