Q: How can a 16 year old, who ran away from a very abusive, single parent home, get an attorneys help? His grandmother is
trying to get custody in court, (thats what he wants) but now he ran away. Father is dead. Mother came and took him after being out of his life for 7 years so she can get the Social Security death benefits.
I believe hes hiding because hes terrified of being returned to her if he gets found.
A: By paying a private attorney? This forum is made up of private attorneys who charge money for their services. There are no pro bono attorneys who handle matters like this, as far as I know. Perhaps the grandmother should ask for a guardian ad litem or an attorney ad litem to be appointed to represent the best interest of the child, investigate the facts and circumstances, and make a report to the court.
