Geneva, IL asked in Criminal Law and Family Law for Illinois

Q: Can I press charges on my ex for hitting me a month after it happened? I have a picture of my bruises

I pressed charges on my ex after he destroyed all of my stuff. He is on probation for theft and a dui. Theft was a misdemeanor. He was charged with theft today for destroying all of my stuff. The night we broke up i was told by police to come back the next day with them to get the rest of my stuff from the trailer. The next day my ex claimed he didnt have it. His mom later admited on a phone call that he had thrown all my stuff out. She has been protecting my ex and will lie and do anything for him. She later denied she ever said that. I have an order of protection since him and his family made multiple threats to me. The police arrested him this morning for theft. He was released on bail. I want to press charges for domestic abuse also since he has hit me in the past but i never reported it because him and his family would threaten me. I have a picture of the black eye he gave me with a location stamp on it. I was wondering if it would be possible to still press charges?
