Q: I live in a for-profit condominium in chapel hill. the units are managed by different landlords but the communal areas

the communal areas are maintained by the home owners association.

they refuse to to de-ice the sidewalks when freezing rain and snow make it dangerous to walk, I am 70-slipped and fell and had to lie on the ice for an hour

before the ambulance came.the assoc. refused to pay any medical bills.

can they leave sidewlaks icy and dangerous>

A: There may be a case or claim to pursue. Unfortunately, North Carolina is a tough state to pursue a slip and fall case. I understand that North Carolina has a contributory negligence standard in place. As such, if you are even partially at fault, the property owner or property manager could then win the case.
