Q: Someone took my license plates and has racked up toll violations
Someone took my license plates and has racked up toll violations which caused my license to get suspended which then caused a job not to hire me.Can I sue them for lost wages and the trouble? I've tried to contact them on numerous occasions and they will not respond
A: You can pursue a civil case or claim for the damages that you suffered as a result of your license plate being stolen; however, you may struggle to get the Defendant to pay off on the judgment or damages. The pursuit of a civil case is much different than the collection of damages on a Judgment. You can hire an attorney who handles civil matters to pursue this case. I am not sure you will be able to find an attorney to handle the case or potential case on a contingency basis. In other words, an attorney contacted to handle the case may want to charge you by the hour or by a fixed rate than than base his or her fee on the successful collection of monies from the Defendant. Good luck.
