Q: If a teacher is suspended in VA, is that information made available to the public right away?
A: I am not an education attorney, but it appears the Virginia Department of Education maintains a list of licenses that have been cancelled or suspended at this website: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/teaching/licensure/license_actions.pdf. The PDF says it was updated as of 4/12/16, so there appears to be about a month's delay in the information being placed on the list. The concerned teacher should consult with local employment law or education law counsel to see if he/she has any redress. Good luck.
