A: If neither of you are represented by an attorney, you may find Washington Law Help (free legal information at washingtonlawhelp.org) to be informative. Washington's procedure for handling assignment of child support is governed by law (http://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=26.09.100). The worksheet can be a useful tool even if you are already in agreement, and the court might want to see it if neither of you have attorneys. It can provide a basis upon which the court makes a decision and then later modifies that decision if needed.
