Q: How do I get the insurance to get my car fixed to its original state if they are denying the damage?
My car was hit while parked on 3/19/16. The drivers insurance paid for $3,500 worth of damage. I received my car back on 6/30/16. I ended up taking it to a dealership shortly after to get inspected. The dealership told me it had major frame damage. The damage was on the left rear drivers side of the car. That's the exact point of impact from the accident. When I called the shop they said it didn't have frame damage and the insurance also said no frame damage. Now I have a car I can't drive or sell because it's dangerous. What do I do to get this resolved?
A: Have the dealer talk to the insurance company about issuing a "supplemental" If the shop you took it to was one that the insurance company told you to use that amps the claim. If they won't issue a supplemental, get an estimate from the dealer, send it to the insurance and confirm they aren't paying, send it to the insurance commissioner with a note pointing out that it had to be from the crash because a)no one said prior damage and b) couldn't have happened afterward without exterior body damage
