Q: My sister is being harassed by her ex boyfriend. Help me!

My sister is being harassed by her ex boyfriend. They broke up six months ago, and since then he has repeatedly harassed her AND my family. Our house has been egged several times, and we've even had beer bottles broken on our drive way. She got a temporary restraining order on him after he slashed one of her tires, and he backed off for a while, so she didn't request that the order be continued. Since then, he has followed her home in his car, speeding up so he could flick her off. He has also done the same to my mother and I. Just today, my sister saw him and his new girlfriend downtown today. My sister went to her car, that was located on the third floor of a parking garage, and got ready to leave. When she looked behind her shoulder to back up, he and his girlfriend were standing right there. They stood in the corner and yelled at her and flicked her off and she drove off. She came home crying and having a massive panic attack.

What do I do?

A: File complaints with the police. Do NOT get into anything on Facebook or other social media with them.If there is a group or church that does community mediation perhaps they can be involved.

A: You can personally seek a protective order and/or seek civil damages for harms you have sustained. Your sister can do likewise, but in the final analysis, that is her decision.

A: File a police report and request a temporary restraining order until you're able to get a permanent order granted by a judge.
