Q: Can a company deduct money from payroll paid in cash without previous notice or mutual agreement?
My husband works for a roofing company today is pay day and this afternoon he got a call from the employer saying they were going to deduct $120 dollars from his pay check for some sort of insurence plan incase he gets hurt...they were not specific about what kind of insurence. ...he gets pay cash and makes a medium of $700 a week they are taking 120 weekly. Can they do this? If not what should he do or ask from them? Can he ask for prove of insurence ? And if it is worker compensation can they deduct for having such insurence
A: He should ask for proof of coverage and payment. That's a significant whack--20% of his pay.Not ususal. Does he get w-2 or other form at the end of the year?
