A: I assume from your question that man to whom you are married is not the father of your child. The child support guidelines will apply to your situation. Those take into account how much visitation each parent has, your income, insurance, extraordinary medical expenses, and a few other items. What is not considered is your new spouse's income. Only yours. So there really may not be a downside for asking for child support. But consult with local counsel to make that determination and to advise you on how the process works.
