Q: Was injured at Walmart they called today for a "sitdown" I don't have a lawyer. Should I go?
I was reaching for an air pump when all of a sudden about 6 fell on my head and shoulders a few hit my legs. I have a doctor's appointment coming up at an orthopedic doctor. I've had a headache pretty much since it happened. My neck feels maybe like whiplash. I have bruises on my legs and arms. My memory is a little fuzzy too. Also my toe maybe broken.
I informed management as soon as it happened. They took a report and a witness statement. Today someone called from Walmart maybe someone who works for Walmart lawyers and asked if I wanted to still go through with the claim. I said yes. He asked for a sit down. I'm not sure what that's for? Is it like arbitration? I do not have a lawyer. Im on social security and we, my daughter and son live on that and child support when the dad's decide to paid. So really my question is what's this sit down for and do I need a lawyer before the sit down?
A: Talk to a member of the Alabama Assn for Justice--they give free consultations. At this stage Walmart is less interested in paying you than getting you to say things their way. You should ask them if you can have a copy of your witness statement and any store video. Their response should tell you how interested they are in your well being.
