Chattanooga, TN asked in Personal Injury for Tennessee

Q: What can I do if being denied adequate pain relief aft 6yrs bc of discriminatory laws against pain patients and their D

In pain Mgmt for 6+ yrs for nervous system disorder causing constant pain

Lost career

Refused disability

Almost housebound due to pain and lack of relief

No drug abuse

Strongest meds given =tramadol and anti-anxiety (no abuse as documented by pain mgmt regular drug tests)

TN laws increasingly discriminatory treating legitimate pain patients as drug addicts has caused sudden restriction of anxiety med which calms nervous system pain- crisis with no relief in sight-life threatening level of pain

Just keep getting put off by all DRs and can't hold on forever

Will run out of $ and willpower without relief soon

What can I do ?

A: Not the answer you want to hear, but Don't Mourn, Organize--patients, providers need to write letters to State Legislatures. Under the law it isn't discrimination for the legislature, state or federal, to say "we are going to ban or severely restrict a certain type of medication...." For instance morphine, a very effective --but addictive--pain killer has been essentially banned.

So the law isn't going to help you.

As to your disability, you may qualify for SSI or SSDI. You should check with legal services/legal aid in your area.

I understand you were denied before but perhaps your condition has now come to the point where you are eligible.
