Littleton, CO asked in Car Accidents and Traffic Tickets for Colorado

Q: My 17 year old 2 reckless driving tickets, 2 leaving the scene of an accident tix and 2 failure to report tix in 3 weeks

On 9/11 He hit a fence post in an empty parking lot doing donuts and left. A bystander took pictures and called the police.

Second one was 10/4. He hit a parked car and left, caused damage to both cars and it was caught on video surveillance. That's 58 points here in Colorado. Drugs and alcohol were not involved with the traffic accidents although he is on probation for position of alcohol. Is he going to go to jail? Fined? Both?

A: He needs a lawyer which he should pay for.Time for him to get adult. I would talk to a family therapist for how to approach this so it has a learning/teaching component short of him doing time and becoming a true jerk.. If he needs adventure maybe he should check out the Marines--which will give him a sense of discipline if he has what it takes to qulaify physically and to deal with boot camp. That may help with sentencing if he sticks with it (at this point his word has been seriously devalued).

Reason for the above is that he is certainly saying to the Judge or Court system "I didn't get the message" so they will be reaching for the 2x4 if not a 4x6.

Looks like a violation of probation so it's possible he could do time.
