Erlanger, KY asked in Domestic Violence for Ohio

Q: My girlfriend and i were arrested and charged with domestic violence in Ohio. Can we skip court and the case be dropped?

We both received citations in which the state is charging us individually. Neither of us are pressing charges on the other and neither of us have a record. My friend who was involved in a similar incident said we could skip court, receive subpoena's, skip court again and the charges be dropped. Will this work?

A: That sounds like some bad advice. The state, not you, decide whether or not to "press charges." When you skip court, the judge issues a warrant for your arrest. Your friend probably has a warrant out for his arrest.
