Q: Is it considered a hit and run if you come back to the scene of an accident?
I got out of my car, told the other driver to call the police, and I went up to my condo and dropped off my groceries. I came back to the scene. As I was driving back down to scene, a police officer came looking for me, got behind me and pulled me over. He said I fled the scene. However, I told the lady to call the police and I came back to the scene. He said I committed a hit and run. We both live in the same community, she had my tag number, and there were cameras. I had no intentions of leaving the scene and not coming back down to give all my information. After I explained to him what happened, he still gave me a citation. Do you consider this a hit and run?
A: No as you did not intentionally leave the scene.Further you usually have to have injuries to be cited. However it's a serious charge, not a d.i.y. so I suggest you contact an attorney who handles traffic citaitons for the court that would hear the matter and in the meantime plead not guilty.
