Q: Since I am 15 and 20 weeks pregnant and my fiancé is 18 how do we obtain a marriage license by a county court judge?
I am 15 and my fiancé is 18 and I am now half way through my pregnancy we are looking to get married before our baby girl is born in February so she is not born out of wedlock. We have done a lot of research on what we need to do as far as getting a written statement from a licensed physician stating I am pregnant so how would we go about getting a county court judge in hillsbrough county so we can obtain a marriage license do we just call the clerk of circuit court and explain the situation or do we set up a court date because in the section it's states how I would have to swear under oath that I am an expecting parent.
I have got the information I know so far from Florida state statue section: 741.0405
A: Very good job of researching the applicable law. Subsection (3) (b) includes the language "... upon the female’s application sworn under oath that she is an expectant parent ...". This suggests that the sworn application should be written. I would call the clerk of court and ask for specifics about what is needed and how a hearing can be arranged.
