Q: What types of injuries and illnesses are covered by workers' comp? Does it vary by profession?
A: Any accidental injury arising from your employment, or any occupational disease caused by workplace conditions are covered. You should immediately co fault with an experienced workers compensation lawyer to preserve and advance your claim.
A: There is some variance as to the common injuries covered under wc but ordinarily it is " the cause" of the injury or disease. For example lung cancer is easier proved when a firefighter suffers from it. Carpal tunnel when a cosmetologist suffers from it. Usually with strains and broken bones it is a matter of how the accident happened. Its best to contact a maryland workers compensation attorney directly to discuss your case. Consultations are always free! Good luck!
A: You need to have a report of injury, which in repetitive injuury cases can be difficult. You need to have medical documentation that it is related. What work you do or don't do doesn't matter, though if you had a disc injury and claim you hurt it working a desk job I think that would be very difficult to show--even if you hurt it lifting files. But if you immediately reported that and went to the doctor and followed up--yes, lifting files resulting in a disc injury could possibly be a claim.
