Q: I have inherited investment real property. I know the asset is mine but what about the income the property produces?

A: This is partially based on the nature of the grant by bequest. If the property was given fee simple (with no restrictions), the income should be yours. It is possible for the testator (the deceased) to separate property ownership from income (e.g. a life estate or other means), but this is not that common. In short, review the will to see what you received. If you still are not sure, contact an attorney.
