Austin, TX asked in Divorce for Texas

Q: My ex is trying to make me pay a bill in his name or he will contest a divorce. Should I just pay it and be done?

I do not think I should pay this as he took a lot of money from me when he decides to leave me while I was pregnant with his child, causing me to almost loose my house, and many other financial issues along the way that I have dealt with. I have not asked him to pay any of these, so him asking for this is outrageous. I am also willing to pay the fees for a no contest divorce I just don't want to drag out the inevitable for an extra 180$.

A: I understand your frustration, but it isn't worth paying extra attorney's fees to turn an uncontested divorce into a contested divorce for $180.00. When divorces are uncontested the fees is reasonable and the process flows much smoother (and quicker).
