Q: Until what age do I have to pay child support if my child lives in Florida. Does attending college matter or not.

A: Child support typically ends when the child turns 18. However, there is a statute that extends child support beyond the age of 18. Specifically, that statute provides how if the child "is between the ages of 18 and 19, and is still in high school, performing in good faith with a reasonable expectation of graduation before the age of 19" then child support would end either at the age of 18 or upon high school graduation, whichever comes first. Your child support order/final judgment should contain language on when your child support ends. Depending on what your order says (or does not say) you may have to go back to Court to terminate support. All the best.

A: Generally in Florida, you do not have to continue to pay child support while children are in college, unless your agreement states otherwise.
