San Diego, CA asked in Traffic Tickets for California

Q: [CA, US] What is the best way to prevent getting violation points added in my driving record after getting ticket?

I got 21461 violation and it was my fault in California. I’m rule oriented individual, I follow speed limit, keep distance, etc. This is a very very rare case that I messed up where I did not fully come to a halt when turning right while it was red when there was no cars around except the police hiding in the corner.. After decade of driving with perfect record, I finally got one. I don’t mind paying fines, going to online school, I just don’t want to stain my record. Any tips how should I beg the judge, or whatever. Can I make some sort of negotiation, lawyer perhaps? I'm not going lie in the courtroom[No way], so I'm asking for some sort of plea I could do. Or is there anyway I could avoid going to court all together and contact the law and make negotiation. What is the best approach? I never had trouble with the law. Any tips are welcome, negative or positive?

A: In my experience, the best approach is to get a lawyer who is in that court a lot and specializes in this area of law. There are many reasons for this but I would just find a lawyer and pay a flat fee to him or her.
