Q: can family of intruder sue homeowner for killing him on the driveway?

The two men killed during a home invasion west of XXXX Monday morning were the robbers, according to the XXX County Sheriff’s Office, and the residents who shot them are missing. Deputies were called just after 10AM on a report of an attempted carjacking at a home at the west end of XXX Road. Deputies arrived to find XX-year-old XXX lying dead in the front yard, apparently having been shot by someone from inside the house. Witnesses said there had been an attempted home invasion that was repelled by the armed residents of the home. There were two other robbers, and they showed up at a Gas Station on XXX Street in XXX in a pickup truck. The driver, whose identity is unknown, took off running from the scene before deputies got there. The other man stumbled into the store and collapsed with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken by ambulance to XXX Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
