Q: 13 sibling own new orleans home,8 want no part of it.Can transaction be done to get this down to 5?

Can a sibling simply donate their share to the others that want to keep the house or must a dollar amount be given to the sibling that wants out?

A: Any that want to can deed their interest to the others. Have a lawyer prepare the deeds -- it's too easy to screw up. If the siblings will only sell after getting paid, that's their rght as a co-owner. Buy them out if you can. If some want to sell and others don't, the only way to force a sale is through a partition suit. You need to talk to a Louisiana real estate lawyer about your specific situation.
