Q: How can I regain custody after the grandmother had temporary custody for two years.
I sent my children to their father temporarily because I was living in a motel, he then gave them to his mother who then got temporary custody. Hard times and bad credit slowed the process but I am now better prepared to take care of them like they're supposed to be. I've now ran into the problem that they don't want to give them back and says that I have to go to court. My children are not happy with them and I just want them happy. My daughter has even tried to run away from her grandmother. What are my rights here? Do I have to go to court to get them back? I never signed them over and my rights were never taken. I need my children back. I live in South Carolina but they live in Jersey city
