A: You always have the option to terminate the attorney-client relationship. While not required, it is highly encouraged that you contact another bankruptcy attorney BEFORE you formally terminate the relationship with the prior attorney. Regardless of the reasons for "firing" the attorney, the attorney is entailed to reasonable compensation the work that was already provided (see the engagement letter for the likely costs). If you want the attorney to stop any future charges. Email (and maybe mail) stating that you want the attorney to stop with your case. While you are not required to give an explanation (and stating that you are seeking alternative counsel is not recommended), it is usually better to give some reason.

When you find an alternate attorney discuss the termination with them.
