Oxnard, CA asked in Elder Law for California

Q: Is it legal for a Caregiving Agency to mandate the caregivers have no contact with the only living family member?

My mother is 81 and is Stage 6 Alzheimer's. For the past year she has had 24/7 caregiving through an agency that I chose. In the past two weeks everything has changed. I am the only person who can get groceries for my mother and the caregivers have always texted me her shopping list. I have always been able to text them that I am going to the store and ask if she needs anything. I have been able to text them before I call to see if it's a good time to call (she could be in the bathroom, asleep, or getting a bed bath). As of two days ago, not only have they told the caregivers they may not contact me but they have told them they're not allowed to talk to me or see me on their day off. What they do in their spare time that doesn't affect their job should be none of the company's business but is it actually illegal?
