Q: REQUESTED HIP EXPLANT TO BE PRESERVED,PER THERE PROTOCOL.MY EXPLANT WAS THROWN IN TRASH PER THE STAFF AND MD.DR

//I HAD HIP REVISION IN NASHVILLE CENTENNIAL BY DR. CRAIG MORRISON, I REQUESTED MY EXPLANT TO /BE PRESERVED ,THEY SAID HAVE MY ATTORNEY AT TIME SEND LETTER STATING THIS AND B/C THERE WAS A POSSIBLE LITIGATION CASE. THEY RECEIVED LETTER ON 9/20/16. PLUS I FAXED A COPY AS WELL. I WORK FOR HCA IN ROME, GA AND HAVE FOR 35YRS, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN,PLUS I WAS TOLD HAD STRYKER IMPLANT ONLY TO FIND OUT A FEWS WEEKS FORM MY ORTHOPEDIC DOC HERE IN ROME,AFTER GETTING MY RECORDS ,XRAYS HE HAD DONE IN DEC 2016 THAT I HAVE A DEPUY S ROM, THE EXPLANT WAS A DEPUY CORAIL STEM. DR. MORRISON HAD DOZENS OF TIME TO TELL ME THE TRUTH,I'LL ADMIT I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPY,BUT IT THAT'S WHAT IMPLANT HE THOUGHT WAS BEST,BUT I FEEL LIKE EVERYONE WAS MALICIOUS IN NOT TELLING US. THE DAY AFTER MY SURGERY IS WHEN I ASKED ABOUT EXPLANT. THEY ALL ACTED LIKE A BUNCH OF MONKEYS IN A CIRCUS. I FILED COMPLAINT ON THE HCA COMPLIANCE AND ETHIC LINE, ONLY TO BE TOLD MY PAPERWORK WAS MISFILED.THE VERY NEXT DAY I GOT EMAI

A: Discuss with the attorney you have. Short answer is that it's hard to find a case on the doctor getting rid of a removed piece of hardware. Do note that implants have a given "lifespan" and yours may not have been deffective, just at the end of it's lifecycle.
