Q: I reported Elderly abuse by a 44 yr. old daughter who is now ferrious with me has the mother filing charges. Help where?
I am a long time friend of the mother, in 64' we met by 68 engaged to be married, but I had to go to Vietnam and we fell apart, we reunited last April 2016, since I have spent enough time at her house to see her daughter like none of the family has ever seen, the mother is in denial, she lied to the social worker that interviewd her. I am now hated by the family for suggesting that a 44 yr. old mentally challenged daughter would hurt her mother.. as far as I know right now it is definiely financial abuse. I witnessed anger from the daughter that was IMO unacceptable and if physical abuse has not happened it will. The daughter is also care taker of her sister's 17 yr. old autistic son, the way she is allowed to play with the boy and what I saw would not be unexceptable in anyone's home, but the mother fears her daughter, once when this happening I ask he mother to trun around look and explain to me what is happening, the mother would not look up she just starred at the floor...
A: If charges are filed get a criminal defense attorney. Anyone with experience would suffice, but one with a good relationship with the DA's office might find helping you easier. YOU can report elder abuse to the District Attorney's Office in your County. Report the abuse you perceive to the County Adult Protective Services Agency in the County where your friend lives.
