Sarasota, FL asked in Employment Law for Florida

Q: In December the Bank of Commerce sold to Centennial Bank and I signed a contract with them

On January 1st of this year, I lost my 20 year old to suicide while under the influence of drugs and I have not been able to go back to work due to the tragedy and depression.

I believe in this contract Centennial covered themselves and it indicates that the contract I signed voids the FMLA or any other state acts for this type of situation, but I was wondering if you could review and verify.

I have been seeing therapist for past two months and regular doctor for antidepressants/anxiety meds and at this point they don't feel I can go back to work at this time and Centennial is now telling me if I don't go back shortly they will reduce stay on bonus and they stopped paying me as of 3/1

A: You need to have the documents reviewed by an employment attorney. You need to take action before they make any decisions.
