Q: Can Social Security Open a new disability claim for you without talking to you about it.
My husband has an appeal on his disability case, his doctor turned in his info and he just found out that they opened a new claim on him. What I don't understand why they opened a new claim when he has an existing case that he had with them for 6 years and they never even told him they opened a new claim. They haven't even made a decision if they are going to cut him off disability so why open a new claim. How can they open a new claim without my husbands signature. I'm I missing something here?
A: Why not go into the office and ask them. In certain circumstances it's possible they may do him a favor.
