Miami, FL asked in Employment Law for Florida

Q: Forced to remove top while working in retail.

My uniform wasn't up to the store's standards. The manager pulled me aside and told me I needed to have it ironed with a crease. The manager sent a front desk worker to lead me to a training room, to undress. I told her I was uncomfortable with the request as the room still had people inside and a large window looking out to the front of the store. They said I should have thought about that before coming to work unprepared, and put me behind a board to undress.

I asked if I could iron my clothes in the bathroom for the privacy, and was told no. It had to be done in the training room. I felt uncomfortable but fearful of the repercussions, i obliged. There were still other people in the room and the door was wide open. As I was beginning to undress, a male grocery manager walked in and saw me behind the board about to undress. I have worked for the company for 3 years, and have never been asked to do this.

Is there any legal actions I can take?

A: I don't think you have a case. Why wouldn't they allow you to iron your uniform in the bathroom?
