Ephrata, PA asked in Personal Injury for Pennsylvania

Q: If someone gets injured on their property because there's a noise from my property, am I liable?

We live out in the woods on a 14 acre lot, my neighbor has a horse farm that they train and care for horses. Last Friday, a couple of buddies came over and we decided to shoot in my backyard. We have the target against a dirt hill, and behind it just goes into the woods. There's just pretty much just woods after it, at least a mile or so. So anyways, we started shooting and when we got back, my wife says the neighbor's daughter stopped by. They just asked us to let them know next time we shoot so we don't startle the horses. This is obviously for safety reasons in case they get startled and someone falls off. I'm thinking to myself, I don't want to call my neighbor every time, I'm going to shoot a stupid squirrel. Also, I feel like I shouldn't have to ask permission to shoot on my own land. If I shoot, and the horses get started on their own property and someone falls on their property, are we liable?

A: No, though as they asked if it's a whole bunch of shots as in your buddies coming over let them know; if it's you going after varmints, no.
