Q: How long does a lawyer have to return your retainer fee?????

I paid 350 to retain a lawyer, I found out Friday; that no work was done on my case by her or him..

A: First $350.00 to retain a lawyer is very cheap thus the probable reason for the problem in the first place. Most Attorneys have minimum charges of $500 and up for any matter and of course we don't know the matter which you are having a problem with. Thus with that said a lawyer has a reasonable time to return any unused fees. What is a reasonable time is determined by a judge.

A: Unless the matter is a Municipal Court matter, not really sure what you retained them for at this low price. If you sent out a demand letter advising you want to cancel the Retainer and return the fee, it should be a reasonable time but no more than 30 days.
