Chicago, IL asked in Criminal Law and Domestic Violence for Illinois

Q: My boyfriend is in jail over a lie that his grandma said. Is there anything i can do ?

My boyfriends grandma lied to the police and said that he punch her in the back of the head except that is a lie. He did not. She is an alcoholic who didn't want him in the house so she called the police and said he hit her in the back of the head. She did not go to the hospital and there were no markings and IF my boyfriend did hit her she would have probably needed medical attention (HE IS strong) Is there any way I can make her confess that she is lying

A: Unless you are a witness yourself, there isn't much you can do. You should really talk to your boyfriend's attorney on how to proceed. Have charges been filed yet? If not, the assigned prosecutor may be willing to hear you out.

You also cannot "make" anyone confess. If grandma did lie and wants to admit it, then she could make a report with the police.
