Q: Can charges be pressed if they weren't made at the the police have already come and gone?
Police were called by neighbors for screaming they heard, that day was my husband's birthday I didn't want to say anything. Is it to late to take action on pressing charges now?
A: Yes charges can still be pressed. Many times the police will gather evidence from witnesses and present it to an "intake DA" who determines the charges that will be brought. While people provide testimony and evidence of a crime the State "presses" charges, not victims or witnesses.
