Q: Can we go to social media about previous employers conduct in terminating our contract? Large car rental agency.
They terminated us without warning. 4 years of meeting sales and no write ups and then, bam. So I'm aware that legally I can't do anything. We can be terminated for any reason. But I'd like to bring a little truth out via Youtube and Facebook regarding their actions and conduct in the termination process.
Truths about them firing us over a customer trying to attack me, and had me pinned behind my 4 foot counter with no exit, and in a secluded room at the side of the hotel alone. I am not a big man, and we had confiscated a baton from one of these cars about a year prior that has been sitting in our lost and found drawer. I scrambled and pulled out the stick as the mans sister was losing grip holding him back. I called police. People left office. I was asked if I wanted to press charges. I didn't press charges. I got no trespassing.
Truth that I'm not the owner of the location, my fiance is, who is 8 months pregnant and I've been working 65-70 hours a week so she didn't have to.

I will simply answer that you do so at your own risks. Telling the truth is a defense to libel and slander, but if you go to far in your comments you may trigger a response by your ex-employer. You might want to actually consult with an employment lawyer as to the comments you desire to post on social media before you do it. I don't think that a lawyer is going to tell you that you are green light to do something like this without seeing the content first.
Good luck.
