Dayton, OH asked in Landlord - Tenant for Ohio

Q: had 1 incident with the cops being called to my apartment for domestic violence. can you get evicted for that Dayton

Owner lives on West Coast so he is relying on others to let me know what is going on. I do not bother anyone nor talk to anyone in the building. Neighbors in the apartment next door had the cops called yesterday for domestic violence and it was blamed on me and he said I need to leave. I called local police and they said it was apartment 5 that there was a call not at my apartment. So what are my options? Never been late on rent. Thanks!

A: Landlord would have to follow the proper eviction procedure as required by law, which requires that he give you written notice of a violation of your lease. If you receive that notice, then use the Find a Lawyer tab and contact a local attorney. But try to contact the landlord first, and work it out. Obtain a copy of the police report and send it to him.
