Asked in Family Law for Illinois

Q: What can I do or be done about a father paying child support and college expenses at a high rate and e doesn't make much

Haven't seen my child in 5 yrs. But she was awarded for me to pay $262 a week for college in conjunction with $90 a week for child support. My child turned 18 in 2016. The local office said I had a balance of zero then 5 month later saying I owe 11,000. Sent an appeal to Springfield disputing the amount and haven't received a reply.

A: The court has guidelines but it can deviate from them.

Sounds like may need to be reviewed.

As to arrearage, it is what it is.

$11,000 is a lot of money. You should know whether you fell that far behind.

A: YIKES! That's a high amount. Call the Springfield office and request paperwork to see if any errors were made. If you were sending payments to the state disbursement board then you can set up an account to see what was going on with the payment
