Q: My father in law passed away recently he was on a rent to own contract with the original owners 10years ago

Then the park was bought by the people that own it now the thing is the new land Lord never did a new contract so for 10years he was pay $800 bucks a month $400 for space rent and $400 for what he thought was tord the trailer but the landlord would say the old contract was not valid then say it is valid if it helps them on top of that he had an appraise come that happens to be a friend of the owner and told us the trailer was worth $15,000 witch is a joke it's old there's things that he should fix and he has not now they're trying to get us out by the 1st we have no we're to go is there anything we can do??

A: You need to review everything with a landlord-tenant attorney - now. A new owner likely has no power to cancel or change a contract and one assumes after 10 years, your father-in-law now owns the mobile home or almost does. If so, ownership of (or his legal interests in) the mobile home likely passes to his heirs or devisees; it does not, however, necessarily mean that you or your wife have a right to live there unless the park has approved you as tenants and at least one of you legally inherits the mobile home. Even if you are eligible to inherit it, you may (or may not) need to probate the estate or otherwise legally administer it. All this needs to be reviewed with an attorney. Good luck.
