Q: If my in laws had temporary custody of my child would I get something in writing
I missed my court date due to the fact I had another court date for the same day
A: Not sure what your underlying facts are. If you were supposed to appear in family Court but did not, and the issue to be determined was custody, it is possible that the court might award temporary physical custody to a responsible relative, rather than having the child placed in foster care. If the court issued a temporary order of custody, you should have received a copy. But, in any event, you can easily go to the clerk's office and get a copy of any order that was issued. PS: if you can't appear in court though ordered to do so, it is your responsibility to contact the court and seek an adjournment, or permission to "appear" by phone. If you just blow it off, the court will assume that you don't care enough about your child to move heaven and earth to be there.
A: Typically, yes, if you have any custody over your child. You can contact the court clerk for a copy of filings. More details are necessary to provide a professional analysis of your issue.
