Palm Bay, FL asked in Car Accidents for Florida

Q: Hello, I currently have a lawyer for a case involving the death of my mother hit by another car while crossing the road.

I have hired them to go after the driver. When I hired them, I had received calls from my mother insurance company involving a death benefit on her own insurance. They had said not to contact them yet. Recently I had asked them if there was a reason I shouldn't talk to them since it is not directly related to the case involving the other drivers insurance. Without answering me they had called them. once they had done that, my mothers insurance would no longer cover me. My mother also had uninsured motorists coverage, which I was not aware of because I could not discuss anything with them. The lawyer recovered it and is now including it apart of the final settlement if there is any. I am not sure if this is right. I was under the assumption a check would be sent to me since it is not apart of the case I hired them for. I don't want to create a bad relationship with my lawyer but starting to feel a lack in communication.

A: I suggest you frankly discuss this matter with your attorney.
